Roman Rothaermel

Co-founder and CEO of Neurolytic Healthcare

My Biography

I am in the final year of my PhD in Neuroscience at the University of Oxford, where I apply artificial intelligence and large-scale data mining techniques to neural datasets in order to decode memories from electrical signals of the brain. Before my PhD, I obtained an MSc in Neuroscience from the University of Oxford and an MSc in Biology from the University of Tubingen (Germany).

Previously, I have conducted two years of pre-clinical research on neuropharmacology at the Max-Planck Society, the University of Bristol and the University of Oxford investigating the potential of immunotherapy for Alzheimer’s disease and characterised drug targets of the glutamatergic system – the major neurotransmitter system of the brain.

I have studied Innovation Strategy (MBA programme) at the University of Oxford, hold a certificate in entrepreneurship from Harvard Business School (Online programme) and have a keen interest in driving the transformation of healthcare through combining artificial intelligence and latest advances in biotech.
